Stars and Stripes contains 20 designs by Kara. She has also introduced a new look in embroidery often referred to as grunge or distressed. In this collection, 2 designs the heart and the star have a layer of backing thread for stitching out these designs on dark colored fabrics so the background can remain white. I have found that if I slow the machines stitching speed with these designs I have less thread breakage when using rayon thread. I also used polyester and had smooth sailing all the way.
